AM I not the cutest?

Favourite winter boots!

Vans winter boots
My Vans close-up
Since I've been a child growing up in Quebec, I've always dragged my feet in Winter because boots area always much bigger than feet so I end up dragging my feet. I bought these Sk8-Hi MTE last year thinking I'd only wear them in spring and fall when there was no snow. HA! I've been wearing them most days unless it's snowing heavily.  Otherwise I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Vans. I can walk faster on snow with these than any other boot I've ever had!

Good gluten free veggie pizza

I occasionally order gluten free Pizza from Domino's. Last time I tried the "Pacific Veggie" with gluten free crust. I have to say it was one of the most delicious vegetarian pizza's I've ever tasted. Even well peppered. I never find anything ever has enough pepper, but I could taste it. Was incredibly delicious.

Meet my Savannah F4 Kitten.

He's so cute. I got him February 28th, and he's 3 months today, so he was born November 28th, 2017. It's hard to take photos of him as he moves really fast. I still need to find a name for him. All the NCIS names I come up with Terry shoots down!

I dislike going to the hairdresser!

I've always disliked going to the hairdresser because I really dislike having my head touched. As a child I used to find it a torture. My mom made two braids in my  hair until I was in 5th grade because my hair would get less messed and I would cry less.  In 5th grade I got my hair cut short and I didn't do that again until I got to college, when I actually got 2-3 perms in a few years.

Then I went back to not going to the hairdresser. For many years I trimmed my own long hair. Since I moved to the West Island of Montreal, the rare times I get a haircut I go to Maison Elysee on Gouin in Roxboro. I've since realized they opened the year I moved here.  So I've been going to see them the past 28 years. In that time I've probably gone 8-10 times. The most was in 2010 when I got my hair cut twice in 6 months!!!!!

One time I went the hairdresser asked me why I came so infrequently. I told her I hate having people touch my hair, but she was ok. She gave me her name. Since then I always ask for Miriam.

I went a few weeks ago, and again I was so thrilled to have Miriam. She tells me she is known in her salon for being the most gentle. Well she is gentle enough for this autistic woman who hates having her hair done to see her at least every other year.

It took a total of 20 minutes to wash, cut and style my hair. It cost me a whole $24.50. [I paid $30 to leave a generous tip as I was delighted with my experience] and I left there with a haircut I like, and I can still put my hair in a ponytail.

Terry was surprised. He took me to the hairdresser and when I came out 20 minutes later, he was like "You're finished??" I've never met a woman who takes so little time at the beauty parlor!

I never knew

Until recently I never knew how much of a great actor and imitator I am. I'm impressive. I mean I hid my autism and my stims for 54 years!

The reason I found out I was autistic now is because the amount of effort I put in to pass in society is draining me faster as I age. This article is so much on point, I wanted to cry after reading it.

Autistic people are not failed versions of Normal!

Great Ted article

I spent most of my life seeing myself more as a failure than as a success. Because somehow my high IQ didn't translate in an MIT degree.  However now that I know that I am autistic and that to function in society I had to work 3-4 times as hard as most people, I'm actually a success.  I always wondered why it felt things so were difficult. I was always told I seem to make things so difficult. Well because for me they were difficult.

I realized recently that the 8 years of therapy I've been doing has empowered me. It has given me the ability to understand my emotions.  I know it seems incredulous that a 50+ year old woman would not understand her own emotions but I didn't. I couldn't identify how I was feeling. I could not understand why I got so frustrated at times or would just blow up.   Now I understand that I get sensory overload.  When I'm overwhelmed anything can set me off to have a meltdown or shutdown.   I  am able to identify emotions and process them sometimes on the same day, or the next day.   Before it could take me weeks or months to process. Sometimes I'd forget about the event instead of identifying the emotions associated.

It explains why sometimes when I relate a story from the past I can get very angry. I never processed the emotion then, each time I retell story I reget angry all over again. It also explains why I can seem to lie when asked how I'm feeling and say different emotions for when I appear to have same emotion to others....

I've realized also that the 8 years of therapy gave me the language to be able to tell my therapist I thought I was autistic and why. I've suspected on and off for years honestly, but then kept thinking... my mom would have known... she was a first grade teacher.   I know when I first read about Aspergers nearly 20 years ago, I wondered how much it applied to me... I knew that I had many male friends around me that would be on the spectrum, especially in computer and BBS related environments.

Valentine day gift

Was stunned. Terry got me a Kali Tshirt for Valentines day. I didn't even think he knew who Kali was! And he also got me my favourite chocolate bar from the only vendor who's chocolate I've been eating the past 2 years. Sadly I can't find the boxer briefs I made for him :( Gotta love how well I hide things!

Took dirt off laptop CPU fan.

My old laptop, the red Thinkpad edge that got fucked going to Toronto, was shutting down every 30 minutes. I figured it might be overheating. So I opened it up and when I saw CPU fan I knew I was right. I took Q-tip with rubbing alcohol and passed everywhere there was dust. Then waited about 15 minutes to make sure all alcohol had evaporated and put the thing back together. I has not rebooted once since.

I've been using it to watch Grey's Anatomy. 14 seasons and I had watched up to somewhere in Season 5 and was watching the spin off Private Practice instead - which I liked a lot.  But I'm getting into it now and will be watching all 14 seasons.  Gives me something to watch during the Olympics as my typical TV shows are on hiatus till march.

2018 started weird for Izzy

My poor daughter, with her brain surgery ended up with 21 fucking staples holding her head together after the surgery.  She's been home with an IV, and will be taking antibiotics by IV till mid march. She sees a CLSC nurse daily who changes her bag.

Now she has Shingles, because having brain surgery wasn't stressful enough!!!! Boy am I happy that I got vaccinated against shingles in December.... at the same time I got my tetanus and diphteria shot.

They wanted breakfast

When I opened my bedroom door, I found that my 3 cats were waiting for breakfast. They had even found the foodballs.

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

So they sent me a photo

Of the back of Izzy's head. She had 21 staples. Count them. 21!  Her scar looks about 6 inches long. Crazy!

When we do things we don't do it half ass! And hopefully this is the last of the surgery. I mean in 2016 Sam had surgery to remove a Cyst in her breast, that left a 6 1/2 cm hole that had to heal from the inside and took I think nearly 3 months. Then there's my skin cancer surgery in 2017, and now Izzy with two brain assesses.

Last dress made in 2017

Terry's mom gave me a Fabricville giftcard for my birhday and with it I got the Fabric I used to make this Dress. It's based on a Burda pattern but I made different sleeves, and I put a shorter zipper. It turned out great! When I was coming out of Costco earlier today the woman who checks your cart on your way out stopped me to compliment me on the dress.

Izzy is going to be OK

So turns out the lump over her cerebellum was 2, yes 2 abscesses

Izzy said to me last night "Surgery went well. It's an infection, no tumour or cancer. Lots of antibiotics in my future but generally good news".

She will be seeing the infectious disease doctor in the following days, as she also had 2 cysts in her armpits in the fall. That seems odd to get cysts and abscesses all in a short time.

I have a Toro Power shovel

I cleared the entire driveway with it. Now I'm going to pay for it dearly. I will be sore for days and days.

My grand daughter is so adorable!

Here she is with the cat ears I got her for Christmas.  I got them so her and her half-sister who is 15 could pose together as cats. The elder child likes anime and disguising as animals.  I didn't think at 18months she'd enjoy wearing cat ears, but her mom tells me she leaves them in a location Mado can find them and she likes to wear them.

Heck I like wearing my cat ear headbands too. I got mine and theirs at Forever 21.

My baby is at the neurological institute like WTF

So Izzy messaged me yesterday to say that she'd had the mother of all headaches for days and went to hospital, they did CT scan and found a bump over her cerebellum.  So they sent her to the neurological institute where they are monitoring her until they can operate.  They are also supposed to give her an MRI to know more.

Like WTF?????

More links on MKUltra

Interesting article from McGill on MK ULtra

And another article about Dr Cameron

PDF includes most of the pre-trial documentation for the trial in the USA

Another PDF about the court case in the USA

ANd another, but most seem to contain similar data.

Then there is this in Rauh Papers :

They don't talk about my dad, but they talk about Leonard Cohen and MKUltra...

and I ordered Father, Son and CIA from Amazon, and am looking forward to reading it.

Fuck no!

Jury Duty convocation,.
I received this letter yesterday and I've had anxiety since.  Basically the thought of spending several hours in a room with 50-100 people being asked personal questions are freaking me out. My social anxiety will be through the roof. I hope a letter from my therapist will excuse me from it.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to participate. I love crime shows and court TV but with social anxiety, public speaking isnt for me. Nor spending days sitting quietly listening to people. I need to keep busy and I can't exactly sew to keep busy in a court room.

New dresses to.try

There's these 4 patterns I want to try. I had bought 2.5 meters of one reddish tie-dye rayon woven and 3 meters of another with the same base colour but with black to make a design. With it, I cut 4 different dresses, so I can see how they turn up finished. All the dresses I'm making will be a few inches above the knee.  I can't wear ankle length dresses, they make me look like I'm 4 foot 2.

Car booster pack was great purchase

About a week ago I purchased a battery booster pack, or the MotoMaster Eliminator 1500A Lithium-Ion Booster Pack & Power Bank  for $230.  I was hoping originally to buy the one on sale at $130 normally $160, the NOCO Genius GB40 Boost+ Jump Starter and Power Bank, 1000 Amp but considering we were having a cold spell, the damn thing was selling like hotcakes.

We've used it a dozen times already. If we'd had to call even a taxi it would have been $20-50 per boost. It works well. It could probably start my truck 10 times before needing a charge, and works in -30 C weather.

The battery pack can also be used to charge USB devices. I haven't checked if you can buy an external powerplug for it, but it comes with USB charger and a 12V charger for the car. I've been plugging in the USB cable into one of my Samsung chargers.

I could have written this

Found this article and the list is so me. :)  I wish my mom was alive and I could show her why I never managed to graduate from university. Why such a bright girl has so many fears and sometimes gets so stuck in her own head...

Discovery Alaska Shows Rock

We stayed at a few hotels on our vacation and I got addicted to discoveries Alaska shows.

First show is Homestead Rescue. What to say about the Rainey's? Love their no nonsense attitude and love their unique solutions to make homesteads work. Absolutely love this show. Even Terry likes this one.

Second show is The Edge of Alaska. Sadly there will be no more after the 6th season that just finished. This show was a lot of fun showing how it is to live in a frontier town in Alaska.  I wonder if the town of McCarthy will get sold and how it will affect it?

Third show is Alaska: The Final frontier. This show resonates the most with me.  These people are intelligent folks who decided to live mostly from what they make on the homestead. The show makes it out that they will die if they don't get their winter food, but there's like a town driving distance from them, where one family goes to see new movies on a regular basis. It's obvious they are educated folks who prefer to live a "simple life" depending the least possible on society. It doesn't mean they are completely off grid or don't benefit from going to the store but if they can find it or recycle it why go to the store. My favourite character is Jane Kilcher. She's a woman, who worked as a professional fisherman for over 10 years. Woman after my own heart. She's also a mom and she seems ok with the hard life on the homestead.

I've watched a bit of Alaskan Bush people ,and not as thrilled with the Browns as with the Kilchers. They aren't as polished or as educated.

Fabric from club tissue

From Club Tissu in St Hubert
Club Tissu in Laval
At the club tissu in laval, on boxing day I picked up 4 pieces of fabric. Two cottons, a leopard print and a pink/black design. The blue/black leopard is a rayon knit and the circular print is a rayon woven.

At the club tissu in St Hubert I got some red Merino wool, and some pink Rayon woven. Disappointed. Usually my Club Tissu Christmas trip I buy far more fabric.

Too tight

I made this dress in September mostly but it was too tight, so I didn't finish it till sometime last week. I can get it on, but there's no way I'd wear it to a party.

Grain free cat food

Since I've had Jethro I've been trying to give my cats grain free cat food. It started with Taste of the Wild. The Venison and salmon formula. My cats love that food so much, there always has to be some at home. It was for Zeke if I remember correctly the first time I got grain free food to address his bare belly issues. The only one around at the time was a duck recipe that he didn't seem to mind but all the other cats hated.

Then my next go to brand is Orijen and their other label Acana. They make good grain free food that my cats like, though they prefer some formula's better than others.

Recently I found North Paw cat food. It's new, Canadian and grain free. They seem to love it. So next time I'll get a really big bag. I find if you give your cats the same food all the time, they get bored. So variety is key, but it has to be a variety that they enjoy.
I found this cat food a few months back and the day I brought it home there was no cat treats, they were going crazy over this food like it was cat treats! It's called Terra Ultra cat food

For Christmas this year I got the cats Wild Boar treats. Lets see if they go as crazy as for the NumNums!

For anyone who knows me.

I have meltdowns. When I'm stressed they happen daily. When I'm not too stressed and my diet is good they might happen weekly or even less frequently. But ultimately, I've had them since I've been small.  This page on Aspergers or high functioning autism, explains it really well. Better than I ever can.

Fixed my Aerie bra with the weird boning.

It was a pain in the ass but I managed to remove the boning on the bra and cut it off, and stitch up under where the boning was so the bra doesn't fall apart in the wash. I mean the damn thing is worth about $50.

Neurodiverse eh?

I'd be curious how many friends and family are possibly on the spectrum. There's a quiz found here

These were my results:

Your neurodiverse (Aspie) score: 146 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 81 of 200
You are very likely neurodiverse (Aspie)

Feel free to leave results in comments, if you like!

Can't believe I found a tick on Jethro. From my research it was a brown dog tick. Poor Jeffypoo has a scab and is missing fur where we found the tick.

Have a HP Laptop? This may interest you...

Pass this on to people you know who have an HP laptop. (and update the laptops in your department)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05827409

Hidden software that can record every letter typed on a computer keyboard has been discovered pre-installed on hundreds of HP laptop models.

Security researcher Michael Myng found the keylogging code in software drivers preinstalled on HP laptops to make the keyboard work.

HP said more than 460 models of laptop were affected by the "potential security vulnerability".

It has issued a software patch for its customers to remove the keylogger.

The issue affects laptops in the EliteBook, ProBook, Pavilion and Envy ranges, among others. HP has issued a full list of affected devices, dating back to 2012.

In a statement, the company said: "HP uses Synaptics' touchpads in some of its mobile PCs and has worked with Synaptics to provide fixes to their error for impacted HP systems, available via the security bulletin on HP.com ."

Wtf aerie

I bought some new bra's from American Eagle Outfitters. I've taken to buying them online because they online carry my size 32D online. I've been buying Brooke bra's from Aerie for about 5 years now and love the fit.

So when they had a red one for Christmas I bought it. I did NOT EXPECT boning right under my breasts? Who needs boning there? The boning tends to make the bra want to go in whereas my rib cage wants to go in the other direction. Last night I attempted removing them. I managed to unsew the boning but will have to cut it off the bra, and refinish 2 seams.

Still WHO THE HELL PUTS BONING UNDER THE BREASTS?????

Technology even consipires to create chaos in my relationships.

Attached is screen shots. On the left is the message I sent to Terry yesterday. On the right is the message that he received. He's already insecure because I've been sick the past few months and it has affected intimacy issues due to my fucking sore head.  Receiving that message sure didn't help any.

And I couldn't understand why he was responding with "I knew you didn't want me anymore" like WTF.

Someone in an autism group told me that sometimes long messages get fucked up.. but it's pretty fucked up it would chose "will never see you again" LIKE SERIOUSLY

Considering sending a bitchy email to my mobile provider.

I already have all sorts of issues with communication.  I misunderstand things I express myself funny.  But I don't need fucking technology to add to the problems.

Like seriously WHAT THE FUCK!!!

December 6th, 1989

December 6th in Montreal always brings mixed feelings. Most of us still remember the Polytechnique massacre. I wrote on December 6 1990 this poem in memory of those who died.... Everyone remembers where they were. I was home with my 2 babies, watching television, while sewing, and my first reaction seeing the late breaking news on TV was "Oh another crazy in the US" until I realized the 'crazy' was in Montreal. Since my hubby then worked for a firm comprised mostly of engineers, we realized we knew people who knew the victims. Including Barbara Daignault, the cousin of our good friend Thierry.

In Memoriam of December 6th, 1989
---------------------------------

You are gone forever but not forgotten
The memory of your tragedy lives on
It is a pity that you were attacked and killed
For just fulfilling your potential

There is a malaise in society
That was created long before you came to be
It will not go away so easily
Perhaps your death will make the problem clearer

There were those who looked on in disbelief
Those who were confused and deeply hurt
How can someone decide the fate of others
Is there no justice for the living?

The work of a madman for sure
But there is a madperson in all of us
Some say that he was just a marginal exception
But how can we learn to trust others again

Perhaps this incident will make people think
Of all the injustices committed towards women
Perhaps the next time she cries injustice
Society will believe she her complaint.

The answer does lie within each one of us
To forgive him who focused his personal anger on women
To help others learn to love and help themselves
And make this world equal for both men and women.

In your memory: Genevieve Bergeron, Helene Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Havierncik, Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz, Maryse Laganiere, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay,Sonia Pelletier, Michele Richard, Annie St..Arneault, Annie Turcotte.

Toby really needs this for CHristmas

Stop Meowing and go the FUCK to sleep!

Yep I'd love a copy of this book. It's too cute!

Vaccinated

This morning I went to the CLSC Pierrefonds travel clinic to get vaccinated against Tetanus, Diphtheria and shingles.

I've had the tetanus and diphtheria vaccinations before. This is the first time getting the shingles vaccination. I had the chicken pox at 13 and was never vaccinated against varicella. Now vacinated and happy about it. WOuld not want to get shingles.

Also found out today should probably have also gotten the Prevnar13 since I have both asthma and bronchiectasis.  Will schedule to get it in January.

I've missed eggnog

I'm so looking forward to making my own eggnog with coconut milk.   Dairy milk gives me asthma. It always has. Ice cream is the worst for it, then milk. Cheese and yogurt aren't as bad.

Besides I cannot drink store bought eggnog as it's full of sugar. IF I will make my own, it will be without dairy.   I've missed eggnog. I'd drink at least 2-3l of eggnog on my own each December.  My coconut recipe book has an eggnog recipe that I'm dying to try. Maybe this week-end after I stock up on soy milk at Sheng Tai.
