I wore a purple coat today
As it happens I have 2 spring jackets, one is a black trench coat from Simons that I adore, the other is a purple coat I picked up at Costco. I wore the purple one today because it is lined and slightly warmer then the trench coat.
As I was putting it on, my bf commented "Ah you're wearing purple today" thinking I was commemorating Prince. Nope. I suppose I preferred Michael Jackson to Prince. And while I'm sad both are dead, it doesn't bite me like the death of my parents did, or even the death of a co-worker over a year ago.
It seems 2016 is a year where lots of well known musicians are dying but it's not surprising that some of my favourite musicians are dying, since I'm over 50.

Zombies still work at the KFC/Taco Bell in Pierrefonds....
I've blogged and complained about the extra super slow service at the Taco Bell/KFC outlet years ago. Since my bf moved in with me, we stop at their drive-through regularly. It is slower then molasses in January. I've been thinking they only hire Zombies.
The service is so incredibly slow, that yesterday we were parked in front of the speaker for at least 8 minutes before the queue started moving. There was 5-6 cars, from the window to the speaker. We must have spent 20 minutes waiting in the car. He had time to show me 2 different versions of Judas Priest Painkiller and show me the difference between the drums in the studio version and one of the live versions.
Don't get me wrong, the staff is polite, the order is filled with no mistakes, you even get service with a smile. But slower it's hard to find. The idiot behind us, who didnt' get to order for the first 10 minutes he was in line thought honking might improve things. What a douche!

Newborn clothes
This week-end I went crazy sewing baby clothes. Snaps are a pain in the ass. Whether you use snap tape or put them on yourselves it's a PITA.

Syrian Consultate in Montreal Closed!
Finally Canada closed down the Syrian consulate in Montreal. The Consul, Ms Nelly Kanou is a regime sympathizer and supporter. Many of the Syrians I knew in Montreal did not want their papers renewed there after Canada closed the embassy in Ottawa in 2012.
Finally Jean Coutu saw the light. Here is the news about it.

Meet the new Drummer
For the Montreal Judas Priest Tribute band Painkiller.
My boyfriend auditioned on Saturday for this tribute band. He's been a huge fan of Judas Priest since he's been 11 or 12 and saw them live many times since. At some point it was his favourite band. These days he doesn't have a favourite band, loves too much music!
In the year I've been dating him, I haven't seen him so excited. It's been years he's been looking for a band to play with and this one meets his expectations.

Sewing....
This is some of the sewing I've done in the past few months. Have to get good photos showing off my new dresses. Most of my time recently has been spent making maternity and baby clothes.

Went to Club Tissu
Sunday I went to club Tissu. Was hoping to get some baby cotton knits and possibly some white snap tape. Realized they no longer have a baby cotton knit collection at the one in Laval. I guess it didn't sell well last year so they no longer have it. Instead they had cotton knit prints for close to $30 a meter. Bleah.
I did find 2 types of baby terry cloth for $5.65 a meter, that was a great price, bought a meter of each, and I found a Rayon knit that I knew if I didn't get Sunday I would never get.
They had the Jalie men's underwear pattern I wanted. But they didn't even have white snap tape. They had dark blue and black. Who would use that for baby wear?
I had to get my white snap tape at Fabricville today.

My poor BF lives with 2 crummy females....
Yes. My poor bf. The inhumanity. He lives not with one but 2 females, that like eating in bed and are very messy eaters. Yes Zoey and I leave crumbs all over the bed.
Nights where he works, and he comes in and snuggles next to me in the morning, first thing I get asked, is, you were eating in bed again.... and no matter how hard I try, it seems I leave giant crumbs....
This isn't new. My mom used to get mad at me for leaving crumbs .....
I'm just a little crummy....

Love the new Spring Rayons
Fabricville had a 2 day sale with 50% off their spring fabrics. I went after work yesterday with my bf to check out the rayons.
The reddish-green one is a Rayon poplin, the softest rayon ever. The green and black one is a voile, so thin, so nice. The bluish print is a crinkled rayon. I haven't found any in years. Very happy. Now I have so many dresses to make.. Oh My!

It had to happen sooner or later....
Went to value village for lunch today. Apparently they have senior discounts for people 55 and up and somehow the woman at the cash decided I was a senior today. Not only did I get 10% which is the usual but they must have been a seniors discount day on senior day because I got 30% off everything I bought today. My friend in her mid 20's got zero discounts.
Not going to complain, but usually it's 20 year old cashiers that think I'm over 55 or 65, not a woman my age. I suppose she was just being nice and I guess I can't complain....
But today I got the seniors discount for the first time in my life....
OH NO!
I'm a SENIOR now!

Gluten free mashed potato latkes
I had mashed potatoes left over from dinner on Thursday night and I couldn't help but think about Chenoi's mashed potato latkes, which sadly are NOT gluten free.
I took some of Bob's Gluten free flour, and put it in a small bowl along with some galic powder, onion powder, thyme, and oregano and mixed it well. Didn't even put pepper, me the pepper queen.
I made balls the size of golf balls with the mashed potatoes, and dipped them in flour mixture and flattened them. I cooked them in coconut oil until they were golden on each side.
They were delicious, my bf ate several.
