Pin-Wheel Dragonfly windchime

It's been some time since I last bought a dragonfly windchime. I saw this one at Walmart yesterday and I had to take it home!

Selfie with a dragonfly

We spent most of the day in the canoe. We parked at the canoe launch early in the morning and paddled all the way into the beginning of the march, then around a private island before we came back around lunch time. Around 3pm we decided to canoe again, and went from the same launch site. This time we went in the other direction and checked out the closest backwoods canoe camping site as well as the Buckhorn picnic site. We saw all sorts of turtles both in the water and one was sunning on the point of the rock near the Buckhorn picnic site.
This was the 2nd or third dragonfly to land on my sarong

I like Atlantic Fabrics

My eldest had told me about Atlantic Fabrics at Christmas time and when we were talking the other night, Terry asks me if I want to visit the Fabric stores in Halifax. So we went  and I found all sorts of Dragonfly fabric. They actually had 5 different dragonfly fabrics. The red one I bought came in 3 colours, but the red looked nicest, The black fabric I got came in black and green, but the green was tacky.
Didn't buy, I hate yellow

Was only 1.4 meters but took it all

THe 3 dragonfly fabrics I did buy
I could have spent hours at Atlantic Fabrics. This was the one in Darmouth.

I intend to go to the one in Truro and the one in New Glasgow when I go to Cape Breton this summer. Will have to see if I can borrow daughter's member card!

Dragonfly seesaw

All the best plans don't always work out. I was supposed to go camping this weekend,  heck it was going to be a three day trip, I'd gotten Friday off. I left work Thursday at 3pm to go pick up my friend. I get there and he tells me change in plans. Daughter arriving back from camp a day earlier then anticipated.

So we did not go camping.  We spend a quiet night at my house so we could pick her up at Carrefour Angrignon at 1pm. We had breakie at Dejeuners Inc before heading to Lasalle. Last night we decided to come back here to go.canoeing today.  We also took.his daughter to the park... and this is when I noticed the cute dragonfly seesaw.

Today it's supposed to be spectacularly nice, we hope to go canoeing in Riviere des Mille Iles.

Embracing life

I've probably mentioned before that all my walls came down during the fall this year. This is a good thing, as my walls had gotten phenomenally thick since my dad's death in 2003.

At the point my dad died, it was just too much. My mom left us in 1999,  I left a 5 year relationship in 2000, my Grandfather left us in 2000, I had surgery in 2001, our favourite 12 year old cat left us in 2003, my children moved to live with their dad in 2003, and then my dad died.

The doctor I was seeing at the time said there had been so many events and so much loss in my life, that she didn't believe I could handle one more thing. She suggested I see a therapist, but the one I had been seeing back then went on maternity leave and I could not see myself starting over with someone new at that point. It was just more then I could handle.

I spent 2 years completely celibate. Which is completely out of character for me. Until then I had gone from one relationship to the next, with little break in between any.  I was celibate at this point because I was so fragile, anything going wrong could have destroyed me. Touch was too much. Though I am fussy as to who touches me and why, this is the point where I stopped wanting anyone to touch me.  That's when I started to cringe at most physical contact.

I build a wall, a very thick wall to protect what was left of me, my sanity, my ability to continue on, like a wounded warrior.  Sadly as time passed and things changed, I was stuck behind my wall. So thick, and I wasn't sure how it was going to come down.

I suspect this wall did not help my relationship with my 2nd husband. Especially since he could see way beyond the wall. His misguided attempts at trying to poke holes into my wall, did not really help, other then to increase my paranoia and put up curtains in the more volatile areas. I do know he meant well. He really did want to help me find my way out of my maze.

I'm more or less at peace with the events that have happened since 1999. I'm still processing some things, but lately my emotionally processing has gone from slower then a snail stuck in crazy glue, to the pace of a turtle. I'm processing a lot of the hurt, and the pain and trying to turn it into positives.

I'm sad that the POF guy got involved in a situation where he could not deliver, but really it's HIS loss. I'm an awesome person, and he'll never get to know exactly HOW awesome I really am other then in his dreams.

I will dance with the stars again, and feel the waves of the ocean. I will soar like the red-tailed hawk and roar like the bobcat.  I will embody the spirit of the dragonfly and bring magick to those around me. I will listen to wolf's wisdom, and continue walking through the path less travelled. I will continue tearing the walls that chain me. I will be one with all that is, all that was and all that will ever be.  I will dance with Kali. I will go to places I've dreamed, but never thought possible.

I'm a big fan of dragonflies.

I had also never realized that this awesome song I haven't heard since my late teens, was by Mahogany Rush or that it was called dragonfly  It's pretty funky.

Sarongs?

So I made the mistake of going to look at where one would buy a sarong online and I stumbled upon this site and fell in love with some of the Sarongs.....  Especially all the ones with dragonflies.

Dragonfly

I complained that I wasn't able to photograph a dragonfly on last week-ends camping trip, so one that lives near by decided to humour me and posed for a photoshoot

I shopped till I dropped...

The 5 patterned socks,  and the charcoal wool/cotton blend socks
Seriously, I left this morning at 9am, and got home at 3pm.  I have not done marathon shopping like this in years, and alone no less. Usually I get fed up after an hour or two. Today I went to Mega Mall in Ste Dorothe.

I started at a perennial favourite, l'Aubainerie. I like that one. It has a nice selection. Don't bother with the one on sources. Smallest store and lousiest merchandise. The one in Laval rocks though.I picked up a black cotton cami, some charcoal cotton tights and some 45% merino wool 40% cotton charcoal socks. Those socks were only $6.

I went to most of the stores and not much was appealing to me today. I did get 5 pairs of socks for $10, all with 70 or 75% cotton blend. I just loved the socks with the cat designs and the penguin designs.  I didn't specifically choose the hot pinks, the kitty designs just happened to be in hot colours.
Dragonfly wind chime

I went to most stores and just looked at stuff. Looked for a few things but didn't find them.  I went to target for the first time, and  well meh. Bought light bulbs  Used the self serve cash.  I found a plush animal blanket like I wanted at Walmart. Helped a lady get a box of kitty litter into her cart. She was surprised that I was not only volunteering to help but that I was not that young either. lol. But it wasn't as heavy as the one I picked for myself.  Also found this little blue plastic balls to put in the dryer that is supposed to help with static. Well I had them in the dryer with the blanket and it seemed to work.

I wandered trough Pier 1 Imports and had to take home with me a dragonfly wind chime. A really sweet one. Has a beautiful sound. It was a bit expensive and not reduced because summer is over, but I just had to have it.

I skipped Reno Depot and Canadian Tire. I'm sure if I'd stopped to have a snack, I could have visited a few more stores. :)  I could have made it till closing at 5pm.

More dragonflies at Whispering Pines

I managed to catch an elusive stripped dragonfly actually perched. Usually they don't stop flying around and never seem to land.

The red Dragonfly landed on me and hung out

On Saturday August 3rd, I had a red dragonfly spend about 10 minutes on my right forearm. How appropriate that I was at Kaleidoscope Gathering, which has a dragonfly as a symbol !
