OMG What just happened in Saudi Arabia?

So I just read that Women will finally be given the right to drive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In June 2018 while they sort out the details.

Accidental penetration? Really? Seriously? Anatomy lessons anyone???

I dunno but I've never been "Accidentally" penetrated.  Mostly unless the position is absolutely perfect, most men need to guide their penis to get it to go in anywhere. That's the experience of most women.I've never had a friend say to me "OMG I was accidentally penetrated when Fred fell on me".  Statistically speaking it's about as likely as catching an STD or STI from a toilet seat

I don't know what kind of anatomy this poor girl in England had that she was "accidentally penetrated" and the guy who did it was acquitted of rape. Like WTF????

I'd like to accidentally fall with a 10foot pole up his ass....see how he likes it. I bet no one would believe me. For one I'm female, I'm not Saudi and I'm not a millionaire!

I think schools should offer basic anatomy. It seems many of the judges around the world today are woefully uninformed about female anatomy. What with the idiot who said if she didn't want to be raped all she had to do was keep her knees closed... Huh?

Saudi Arabia's most powerful women & powerful women in Islam!

I often make fun of KSA because of their backwards attitude towards women. However it does not mean that in KSA there are no powerful women that young women world wide can look up to.

Here is article showing Saudi Arabia's most powerful women.

Those ignorant about Islam often think it's the religion that keeps women subjugated. Nothing could be further from the truth. Women are supposed to be equals in Islam but this gets lost in the post colonialism mentally prevalent in the Middle east,  as well as some parts of  Africa today.

A great article about Mohammed's wife Khadijah that I read a few days ago shows how Mohammed in his life time not only married a woman 15 years his elder because he loved her but obviously treated her with a great deal of respect. A month ago there was an article about her on Huff Post about 7 remarkable things about Khadijah. For those who want to bring up his youngest wife, "Aisha", I'd like to point them to this article.

Saudi Historian needs a pole up his.....

Some buffoon Saudi historian claims women drive in other countries, because WE DON'T CARE IF WE GET RAPED.

I'd love to know where he gained this knowledge? Has he traveled to other countries and raped women and then interview them to know how they felt? If he did, he's a bad Saudi, and a bad Muslim, he shouldn't be looking never mind touching women who he isn't married to or related to.  And if he didn't then WHAT the fuck does  he know about women in other countries?

When he was made fun in the interview, he added that Saudi Arabia should hire foreign women drivers to drive their women?  Really? Because the law in Saudi Arabia differentiates between local women and foreign women?  Last I checked if you are ANY FEMALE caught driving in Saudi Arabia, there will be penalties. I'm guessing if you're a foreigner, you will be fined and deported.

I have to feel sorry for Saudi women stuck with neanderthals like this buffoon.  I have hope that one day our Saudi sisters will be allowed to drive their cars, without the risk of rape....

I mean you'd think if they fear rape so much they would JAIL ALL THE MEN. After all it's MEN who rape women.

This time it's true.....

Back in 2011, I likened the head of Saudi Arabia to Schrodinger's cat.

Today he's really dead. Here's a summary of his life.

While KSA is still the most backwards country in the world, where women still can't drive, he "apparently" tried to slowly bring his country into the 21st century. May he RIP.

Some things change way too slowly.

I've blogged before about the inhumane treatment of workers from Asia  in Dubai and the UAE. Where people are treated like slaves. Well the practice isn't limited to UAE, Saudi Arabia is just as bad if not worse.

Read the story of this Ethiopian maid. She is just one of many abused in KSA. This should come as no surprise to many, this country doesn't even allow WOMEN to drive, so the fact they treat foreign workers like slaves is not particularly surprising, though quite disappointing in 2014.

Those who would argue that it's the fault of Islam would be wrong. Sadly in KSA, tribal rules apply more then Islam, even though they shroud everything under the guise of Islam . I mean they are the only country in the world where women cannot drive and there are over 1.5 billion Muslims on this earth, of which there are less then 30 million Saudi's.  Just sayin.....

In relation to my last entry

Where I say that societies where men and women are not free to associate as they wish that things get weird. Two men got arrested in Saudi Arabia for offering free hugs.  Brought to  you by the only country in the world where women are not given drivers licences to prevent them from driving... because we all know where that slippery slope of allowing women to drive will lead you.....

Driving for the women of Saudi Arabia?

Saudi  Prince Alwaleed bin Talal makes a good case as to why women should be allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. Good for him. Hopefully someone will listen and Saudi women won't be the only ones in the world not allowed to drive in their country!

Did you know that cars take away women's virtue?

According to the Saudi's cars are a scourge of the earth!

If Saudi women started to drive, within 10 years there would be no virgins left?!?!?!  What about married women driving? No that's not good either, they would end up either prostitutes, divorced or gay!!!!

The things you learn from the Saudi's !!!!

Saudi women get the right to vote!!!!!

Sadly our Saudi sisters will not have the right to vote in current elections that will be held soon but they will get the right to vote next elections in 4 years. It might not seem like much but this is a huge step forward for Saudi women!!!

Here's hoping that giving them the right not only to vote but also present themselves as candidates in the consultative assembly in the future also eventually gives them the right to drive :)

Here's hoping that this is not just an announcement that will be rescinded later!

In the path of Irene and other news this morning.

I'm not sure if the good folks who chose the hurricane names stopped to think about the meaning of the names they choose to name hurricanes?  The reason I'm wondering is that the name Irene means peace, and I can garantee that the people in the path of Irene will not find peace of any shape!!!

Irene as seen from space looks terrifying according to one astronaut. What's for sure is that from the Carolinas all the way up the East coast to NJ is under hurricane watch. It originally looked like it would go towards Nova Scotia, but now it seems like it might come up the St Lawrence valley after hitting Jersey near New York City.  Montreal often gets massive rainstorms as remnants of hurricanes disperse over land.

Elsewhere in the news I found out my friend from Baltimore had a nasty fall yesterday and is in the hospital with broken bones. As best as  I understood she did a lot of damage to one wrist and may have surgery today to fix the wrist.  Something tells me this means she will not be travelling to Montreal Labour day week-end.  Even if she's still mobile, she might not want to travel with a cast. I guess I'll wait and see.

Apparently there was a large blast at the UN building in the Nigerian capital. No one has claimed responsibility for this bomb. I guess we'll no more about this as the day progresses.

About 150 Syrians were arrested in Saudi Arabia for demonstrating. I guess they figured since the King told Bashar to stop the killing of his people, that it was ok for them to show support for their fellow Syrians but it seems Saudi Arabia does not want ANY protests on it's soil. Of course, it's too afraid that the Arab Spring will spread to their country.

Lots of people are arrested, detained, beaten and tortured in Syria every day. Yesterday was no different. Bashar's thugs found one of Syria's better known cartoonist walking home and kinapped him. He was released on the road to the airport in Damascus after they beat him up and broke at least one of his hands. It would appear poor Bashar has very low tolerance for any criticism. Apparently Ali Ferzat had been more bold recently in drawing the Syrian President.

The only good news for me is that my daughter who is in Halifax will be Montreal bound tomorrow :)  On that note I have to pick up stuff before my cleaning lady arrives and get the heck out of here.

Saudi women drive around Saudi Arabia Today

Rumours of some Saudi women driving around themselves today have been heard. They are encouraging women who have driving licences from other countries to use them to drive around Saudi Arabia.

It's pretty sad when Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that prevents women from driving. The rationale is that if women know how to drive, it will permit them to associate more freely with strange men.  The society in Saudi Arabia is still very segregated.

You gotta wonder about societies where they treat half of the population like 2nd class citizens. Women have consistently proven in various societies that if given the opportunity they can do just about anything men can.

Courage Saudi sisters, keep fighting for your rights.

Saudi woman released!

Manal al-Sherif has been released into her fathers' custody by the Saudi authorities.  She was detained for driving illegally in Saudi Arabia. She has been mounting a campaign to encourage other women to drive so that women get the right to drive in Saudi Arabia.

Although technically no law prevents women from driving, no driving licences get issued by the Saudi authorities to women making it illegal for women to drive. Manal is encouraging women to drive using foreign licences.  Good luck to her and all other Saudi women.

I may not like driving, but I sure like having the right to be able to do it if I want!
