Tragically Hip..

I've never been a giant fan of the "Tragically dip" but I do like "Grace too", and "New Orleans is sinking" and a few other songs. I'm sad that Gordon Downie is sick and that it's their last tour.   At least it was pretty cool that their last concert was broadcast coast to coast. One of his last messages is that we have to treat our native people better and he's right.  His last work is also supposed to expose wrong done to this countries natives.

Disappointed in other Canadians.

Today I read about a black man in New Brunswick who just pulled over at a wharf to go read a book. SEVERAL people reported him as SUSPICIOUS. WHy ? Because he's black???? WTF?????

The other story that almost made me cry was some asshole who took it upon himself to PEPPER SPRAY a group of Syrian refugees being welcomed in Vancouver.  What possesses someone to go and attack a random group of people they didn't even know!!!!

I mean what have those refugees done to the person with the fucking pepper spray? NOTHING, he never met them before. BUT he felt the need to be a ginormous jackass. I hope they find him, and deport him to whatever close-minded country he's from!!! There was no follow up in the news about this attack, but at least the Syrians took it in stride.

I'm so disappointed. I mean I knew Canada still has a long way to go before it treats it's natives like human beings, but now they are attacking blacks {Which have been in Canada for several hundreds of years} and Syrians, also people who started to relocate to Canada back in the late 1800's. 

Friends son dies in their backyard pool

One of my BBS friends that I've known for years, just lost his son.  He was at work, while his wife and other children were at home. At some point they could no longer find the 4 year old and eventually called the police. Sadly the child was found at the bottom of the pool.

This is the 2nd friend I know who lost a child in 2015.

The new year started poorly. Looking at my Facebook feed this morning I realized something was horribly wrong. I saw a message from a ex work colleague to another work colleague about his passing.

I was shocked. I've worked with Lorenzo Delpeche somewhere between 15-20 years. He was a funny, interesting and a sweet man.

He used to screech my name in his high falsetto voice when he would see me, which would make me blush a little and smile coyly.

With most interactions, I would leave with a smile on my face. He brought smiles and laughter to most who got to know him.  He was a big man with an even bigger heart.

He leaves behind 2 young daughters, family and friends who miss him already tremendously. May you rest in peace Lorenzo.

Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness

Yes it's the title of a Smashing Pumpkins double album. Also summarizes how I've been feeling the past couple of days.  I can't shake it.

But having spent all my adult life living in Montreal I am well aware that in late January I tend to suffer from SAD.  Despite spending an hour under my lamp  every morning, I'm still getting seriously depressed.

I'm annoyed because you'd think with all the walking out in the forest I'd feel a bit better, but no.   I guess I have to go out more, and  hopefully if it can warm up, I can expose more of my face to the sunlight. It's been too fucking cold to expose anything.

No one deserves to be blown up

My heart goes out to all the victims of bombings yesterday. 

That includes those who lost limbs, or their life at the Boston Marathon.

That includes the Syrians around Damascus being blown up by their own government.

That includes the Iraqi's all around Iraq yesterday that suffered a series of blasts. 

What is wrong with people who feel the need to blow up their fellow man??????
