Woodpeckers, peck!
I woke up this morning to the pecking of woodpeckers. The funny thing was that after hearing the wood pecker peck, I hear someone drumming imitating the wood pecker! The drummer in him felt the need to repeat the beat and tell me that the woodpecker is extremely precise, it's always exactly the same number of beats in the same pattern.
We went camping at Parc Plaisance because it's the first park to open early in the season. I'd been there before with my daughters also in late April.
This time I did not see beavers, musk rats and ground hogs. We saw groundhogs, lots of birds, including Turkey Vultures Also saw of course red squirrels and chipmunks. But the cool part was seeing a Wild Turkey just randomly walking through the next camp site. I followed it a bit to take pictures. It would be easy to kill for dinner that's for sure.We also saw a porcupine high up in a tree eating some leaf buds. It was the weirdest thing. We drive by and he's like, did you see there's something in that tree. We come back and realize it's a porcupine. Did not know porcupines could climb that high!

I love my tent but it's too small
I still love my roots Barron Canyon 4 tent but apparently we didn't give it much thought when we bought an inflatable mattress. We thought the higher one would be awesome as it would take us so much higher then the ground. This is true, however we didn't think of how high my tent was or how big.
This is a queen size camping mattress. While I had established that it would fit in the tent I didn't give much thought to how much room we'd have left.
I had bought a BESTEK 300W Dual 110V AC Outlets Power Inverter with Dual USB, and it was easy to inflate the mattress using the Grand Vitara.
For our next camping trip we will be using my sweeties, tent which is a 6 person Coleman summer tent. Sadly one of his posts is damaged. We have it duck taped but the first wind storm, the tent will collapse. And though Coleman sell pole kits, it doesn't work with their 6 person tents. I checked around and could not find tent poles that are 240" long. I measured the damn thing, it didn't even fit in length in my bedroom!

They answered.
I had sent a complaint in regards to the racist graffiti I had seen in the Parc Plaisance last week-end. They replied that they really appreciated that I sent the photo and my complaint, that with the number of picnic tables in the park it's hard to inspect them all. They also said they sent out a crew to rectify the problem.
It still sucks there are people out there who are racist!

Unimpressed at the racism.
In the group camping section of Parc National Plaisance group camping, there is a picnic table with racist remarks on it.
I was unimpressed. Not at the park people, because they probably didn't see it, or if they don't read English, they might not have understood it.
I'm unimpressed with the multiple idiots who felt it necessary to add their comments. This has no place in this day and age.
I did sent a complaint to the park with the photo attached the night I got home. I did not get any reply but I don't expect to. I would hope that they do something about it.
Racist remarks have no place in public parks!

First camping trip of the season

| Canadian Geese flying in |
We saw a lot of wildlife. The mammals included groundhog, muskrats, beavers and chipmunks. Saw and heard dozens of different birds. We even heard at night dog like sounds. But that could have been dogs from the few property owners left on the islands.

| Canadian Geese in a farmer's field |
The Canada Geese were still arriving in full force and they are quite noisy. Farmers fields surrounding the park were just filled with Canadian geese.
