Life's lttle ironies

Despite the fact we made it home for the 30th around 11 am, and he was home on time for his night shift overnight the 30-31st, when he left for his shift around 10:30 on the 30th, he made the big mistake of taking Highway 40, the TransCanada to get to work.  Due to the 30 cm of snow that had fallen the previous day, the highway wasn't very nice and an accident happened. He was stuck  unable to get off the highway for over an hour.

By the time he got to work, they'd found a replacement.  It was one of those rare times he didn't have his phone with him so couldn't call to advise them that he was on his way.

So he was back home at 130 AM in a mood.

Ironic since we left Nova Scotia 12 hours early to make sure we would be back in Montreal on time for his night shift!

What are the urban developers in DDO really thinking?

There are so few north-south streets in the west island that goes between highway 40 and Gouin and some yahoo in DDO, thought that one of the few streets that do, should be single lane 40km per hour!!!

Don't know what he has been smoking, but ever since the line was painted to mark where one could no longer drive and not clearing the snow on the side of the road, Sunnybrooke  BOULEVARD has been jammed up between 7:30-8:30AM and between 4-6pm daily. When I say jammed up, bumper to bumper traffic. I've been stuck on Sunnybrooke blvd longer then 30 fucking minutes. The damn BOULEVARD is 2.2km long and should take no more then 5 minutes to drive from one end to the other, even if you have to wait for the light at Hyman, and for the bike path in summer.

If I had a choice I would NEVER use Sunnybrooke BOULEVARD, but sadly I work on St Regis, and really the best way to get home is by taking Gouin to Pierrefonds blvd. The only way to get from St Regis to Gouin is by taking Sunnybrooke.

But some Yahoo from DDO thinks that I should maybe get on the highway for one exit and then go down Sources blvd? So I drive further out of the way?  Besides most mornings Sources is backed up to Hyman, or even Sunnydale.  I've taken to zigzagging through DDO in the morning and getting to Sunnybrooke at Kingsley and still some mornings I spend 20 minutes on Sunnybrooke.

Also if they didn't want Sunnybrooke BOULEVARD to be used by so much traffic, they perhaps having it connect to an entrance to the highway  via St Regis wasn't the best idea either

I spent most of my commute time stuck in non-moving traffic on both Sunnybrooke and St Regis and it's really frustrating.

And to those unclear on the meaning of the word Boulevard, it means a LARGE road.  If you don't want people to use it call it a street or an avenue.  Not a boulvard.

Lighter mood needed

I need to step away from the things that are disturbing me and enjoy the silliness in life.  This morning on the way to work I had a couple of reasons to chuckle to myself as I drove my Grand Vitara to work.

Just a few blocks away from home, I notice there's an SUV half parked on the bike path, half-parked on the sidewalk [Because blocking both the bike path and the sidewalk is the way to go!]. Both are illegal of course, and ideally the guy should have parked either in the friend's driveway or across the street. But that's neither here or there.

The other thing I notice is that there are what appears to be 4 little old men [Brain goes on to think Benny Hill reunion?] and eventually as I got closer I realized, that this 4-some of retirees had decided that it would be a perfect day to spend on the greens. Obviously one guy decided that he wanted to take the rest of them in his brand new white Mercedes SUV. The commotion I saw was them trying to fit the 4th set of golf clubs into the trunk. Why it took all 4 of them....?

Which had me thinking  how many retired men does it take to put golf clubs in a Mercedes SVU trunk?

So I keep driving to work and of course at some point had to stop for a red light. I'm sitting listening to a CD I made of MP3's and bopping to the music. A dude in a motorcycle stops  on the passenger side. I'm thinking 250cc? Nothing more then that. After a few minutes into the light, the dude  starts revving his engine. Trying to get my attention? Bored? Who knows? I didn't look, I was too busy listening to my tunes. However once the light changed, since I had no one in front of me, I just gunned it and left him in my dust. Easily done with a V6  :)  Yeah part of me is terrified driving, part of me just LOVES the sensation of speed. Especially in my truck.

Of course this entertained me on my way to work, while I was still in my morning fog and not too alert. It kept my mind off getting pissed off at the bad drivers.

Speaking of which, I almost got into a collision on the way home tonight,  with some airhead , who was of course talking on her cell phone, holding it with one hand to her ear [Illegal to do here], who decided to do an illegal U-turn into oncoming turning traffic, which was my lane. Where are the traffic cops when you need them?

At Dunkin Donuts, or Timmy's of course.
