It was just one of those days.

My sweetie works night shifts at the hospital, and usually when he does he goes to sleep when he gets home and I call him around 2PM to wake him up so he can go get Zoey at school.

Yesterday like usual I started to call at 2:00PM, By 2:13 PM he hadn't answered and instead of the phone ringing now it was going to voice mail. So I tried my house line. Seems my house line is hosed. It's acting like it's off the hook. Looked last night, could not find a phone off the hoook. Can explain why internet has been flakier then baklava the past week. Maybe my house line has been chewed by the fucking squirrels again.

I messaged him a few times, via email, with messages like "Please call if you are awake, as I cannot reach you".  And the last one around 2:25 was "I'm coming to wake you up, please advise if you are awake"

I had Julia drive me home and when I got home, saw my truck in driveway and felt the hood. I knew he was asleep. Ran in, didn't even take my boots off, ran to wake him up. The look of horror on his face when he saw me because he knew  I'm not supposed to be home. It was 2:45 by then, and he flew out to get Zoey.

I knew if I could not reach him by phone that neither could Zoey and I didn't want her to feel like she was forgotten.Yep his phone had died. It had recorded that I called him 16 times. I had also sent 3 emails and even Julia had texted him. Zoey had also tried to call him 11 times.

Much thanks to Julia who took time out of her busy day to drive me home..

Samsung Galaxy Ace II - and it's very DANGEROUS battery

Last Saturday I ordered a battery on Amazon for my friend. The battery for his Samsung Galaxy Ace II had been progressively inflating, to the point where his phone case was popping out.

When he first mentioned it, I strongly urged him to not put the phone in his pocket anymore, and to keep it in a fireproof area if he leaves it charging over night. I was afraid the battery would explode and catch on fire. If you Google search you will find house fires caused by the battery of this particular phone.

Of course places like Future Shop, Best Buy, The Source, and even possibly Staples, tell you they carry cell phone batteries. So do cell phone carriers. But usually they carry the batteries of recent models that they are currently selling. Rarely do they carry batteries for phones that are over a year old. If you go to 3-4 places and they keep telling you that they don't carry your battery, eventually you will cave in to the prospect of a new phone... which is what they kept offering him.    Battery arrived by mail Thursday night. Thankfully his phone survived the old battery, which is now put to pasture.

He's very happy with his new battery that cost all of  $15 including shipping, handling and taxes! A new phone would have been in the $200 range.

Lighter mood needed

I need to step away from the things that are disturbing me and enjoy the silliness in life.  This morning on the way to work I had a couple of reasons to chuckle to myself as I drove my Grand Vitara to work.

Just a few blocks away from home, I notice there's an SUV half parked on the bike path, half-parked on the sidewalk [Because blocking both the bike path and the sidewalk is the way to go!]. Both are illegal of course, and ideally the guy should have parked either in the friend's driveway or across the street. But that's neither here or there.

The other thing I notice is that there are what appears to be 4 little old men [Brain goes on to think Benny Hill reunion?] and eventually as I got closer I realized, that this 4-some of retirees had decided that it would be a perfect day to spend on the greens. Obviously one guy decided that he wanted to take the rest of them in his brand new white Mercedes SUV. The commotion I saw was them trying to fit the 4th set of golf clubs into the trunk. Why it took all 4 of them....?

Which had me thinking  how many retired men does it take to put golf clubs in a Mercedes SVU trunk?

So I keep driving to work and of course at some point had to stop for a red light. I'm sitting listening to a CD I made of MP3's and bopping to the music. A dude in a motorcycle stops  on the passenger side. I'm thinking 250cc? Nothing more then that. After a few minutes into the light, the dude  starts revving his engine. Trying to get my attention? Bored? Who knows? I didn't look, I was too busy listening to my tunes. However once the light changed, since I had no one in front of me, I just gunned it and left him in my dust. Easily done with a V6  :)  Yeah part of me is terrified driving, part of me just LOVES the sensation of speed. Especially in my truck.

Of course this entertained me on my way to work, while I was still in my morning fog and not too alert. It kept my mind off getting pissed off at the bad drivers.

Speaking of which, I almost got into a collision on the way home tonight,  with some airhead , who was of course talking on her cell phone, holding it with one hand to her ear [Illegal to do here], who decided to do an illegal U-turn into oncoming turning traffic, which was my lane. Where are the traffic cops when you need them?

At Dunkin Donuts, or Timmy's of course.
