Rafter Antigua sandals

I blogged about a year ago that I gotten some Antigua sandals. Originally I was pleased to have found them and them somewhat disappointed. The pair with the black straps were a touch too tight and it hurt my little toe to walk in them.  Thankfully, since I wore them around the house during winter while my feet were not swelled seems to have broken them in a bit, I can now wear them with swelled feet and they no longer hurt my little toe.

Also I had read on a website someone not pleased because she found them slippery on wet pavement and that hadn't been my experience with my original pairs of Antigua's. Sadly it was true with the new pair. They changed the way they do the sole of the sandal and these 3 new pairs were a lot slipperier then my original 2 pairs. 

I had been dragging my feet while wearing my black strapped pair in hopes that if the surface of the sandal sole was rougher, they would not be so slippery and made an interesting discovery. It seems that there's a form of synthetic fabric layer glued to the sole. It mostly peeled off my sandals and since then they much less slippery on wet surface.

I am now in the process of wearing down the pink and blue strapped pairs so that I can peel that fabric layer off them too.

I blogged back in June how I was pining for new pairs of Rafters Antigua sandals. At some point in mid July I ordered 3 pairs and had them shipped at my friend mom's place in New Jersey. I got my sandals sometime in late August.

I also ordered 1 pair of black striped Tsunami sandals since they were $15, which was the equivalent to the shipping costs.

Google ads targetted but is it helpful?

I made an internet purchase a month ago of the Rafters brand "Antigua" sandals I was pining for and had them shipped to my friends mom in New Jersey while she was vacationing there.  This is how I got around the fact they could not be shipped or found in Canada.

Also recently I upgraded my cell phone to a Smartphone, with Fido, the mobile carrier I've been with for 11 years now.

So now on half of the web pages I visit, I get ads for the Antigua sandals I have purchased and for joining FIDO.  Isn't Google missing the point?

I own the 3 new pairs of sandals I seen 50 ads for SINCE I BOUGHT THEM and I've been a FIDO client for 11 years.  No matter how many more times I see these ads I'm not going to buy any more products from these companies since I already have what I wanted from them!!!!

It's like preaching to the choir!!!

I need a new pair of Rafters Antigua style sandals.

I picked up at Winners in 2007 two pairs of Rafters 'Antigua' model sandals. They were probably one of the best buys I did in years. This is a flip flop but with more straps. The sole appears to be made from old tires.

What can I say? It is probably the most comfortable flip flop I've ever owned. I have weak ankles and generally if I walk long distances I will need ankle support. These flip flops have sufficient arch support that I can walk all day in them and not get sore feet, sore back, or sore ankles.  I walked probably more then 10km at Petra some of it up hill wearing these. I think I might have twisted my foot once, and a minor twist, didn't even hurt the next day. I love the fact that the sandals have a fairly good grip unless the ground is wet tiles. The fact the straps are made of fabric prevents blisters that plastic might give on a hot day.  The sole is so flexible that it follows both your foot and the ground you're stepping on, and gives you a good grip for a flip flop.

My problem? Both of my pairs are getting dead. They've been with me around Cyprus and Lebanon in June 2007, They've travelled with me in Dubai in December of 2007. They travelled around cape Breton in September of 2009. They've been around Lebanon, Syria and Jordan in September of 2010.  They are great for travel. Take almost no room in a bag and are perfect for walking long distances in the torrid heat.

I need new pairs but I cannot find them in Quebec. I cannot find stores that appear to ship them to Canada. I'm so jonesing for a new pair of Rafter Antigua's, size 6. If someone can tell me where to find them near Montreal, Quebec, I'd be forever grateful.
