It's been strange.

I'm realizing that despite spending some time chilling in front of my laptop, I also seem to have a reasonably active life.

Two weeks ago I was in Ottawa, Ontario on the Monday and in Fredericton, New Brunswick on the Friday [Well early Saturday morning].  With side trip in the townships before the trip to Fred to get a trailer.

I think the funniest part of the trip was the car we first spotted when you get off the 20 at Riviere du Loup and end up on the 185 I think?   He was parked on the side of the road with his 4 way flashers, and we noticed the car was so full of stuff, and the most noticeable was the large bin on the hood, that was duck taped to the hood.   That send us in a long series of bin jokes. "Bin there done that, got the tshirt"... I don't need to expand.  The funny part is that we must have passed the car 4 times and they passed us easily 3 times. They had an Alberta plate. We were willing to bet we'd run into them the next day someone around Gagetown and we would have gone up to them and said "Bin here before?

When my eldest realized I was in Fred, and it's not that far from Halifax, she and her bf decided that a road trip was warranted.  Also I've realized this young man is defacto my son in law.  I know my daughter and I can tell her mind is made up. Comments like would I be able to make her a medieval wedding dress, or she'll be having babies within the next couple of years lead you to that conclusion. It was nice I got to spend 5 hours with them.   I was beaming the rest of the day.

This past week-end I returned the trailer to it's owners in the townships. And though it was just a short stay I enjoyed spending time with my friends.  I'm happy and in a good space after leaving them.

It's made me realize that I'm in a good place in my life.  I spend most of my time seeing the negatives, but the positives are there too. I have really awesome friends. 

Unexpected week-end

This week-end is turning out unexpected.

I had planned to help my gf pick up some of her things in Oromocto. We took my truck because I have a trailer hitch and other friends were willing to lend us their trailer.

Sadly the trailer had 2 shorts in the electric connection for the lights and my friend had to spend almost 2 hours fixing it.   We haven't unconnected the trailer in fear it would  break again, we've been going around with my friends daughter and her car.... 

We got to Oromocto at 4am Saturday morning. Never saw so much roadkill in my life or so much blood on the highway.

Yesterday when my eldest realized I was in Oromocto she asked her bf if he was up for a roadtrip so in about an hour I will be meeting up with my daughter.  I'm soooooo excited. I haven't seen her since Christmas.  Also meeting her first serious bf. It's meet the rents for him :P

Wasn't even sure if I'd be here in 'Mocto or if we'd be in Freddy....But taking the day as it comes.  Still in 'Mocto as I write.

Day 11 and 12 - driving back to Montreal

Day 11, I drove from Mira River Provincial Park to Oromocto. Things were not working well with my companion and after 2 days in completely silence I decided we needed to head back home. I messaged my gf in Oromocto who was leaving for her trip on the Friday to ask if I could crash at her place that night.  She tried responding NP!!! for no problem, but instead her autocorrect made it in to NO!!!! Thankfully I did not see that until 3 hours later when I stopped to gas up again. She had then added the NO PROBLEM in words to make sure I didn't think she said no.  I think if I had just read NO!!! I would have responded "Ok fine I won't crash at your place, but could I spend the night?"

I had left Mira River at 7am, and we got to Oromocto mid afternoon. I was burnt from all the driving in the pissing rain in Nova Scotia. At least it was nicer in New Brunswick.

Went for a long drive with my gf that night. It helped me relieve some of the stress and I also vented at her some. We both needed to vent. About the dicks in our lives.  Yeah it sounds sexist, but when you act like a dick what can you expect?

Day 3: We leave Oromocto for Murray Beach Provincial Park

 We left Oromocto around 2pm, and drove to Murray Beach Provincial park. It pissed the who way there practically but by the time we got there and set up our campsite, it was not raining. The mosquitoes were voracious. It didn't help that they had just cut the grass. But on the beach there were no mosquitoes so we hung out on the beach until it started to rain. We saw a pair of foxes, lots of birds, ravens, and sparrows flying by 2's by 3's and by 4's.

It was interesting at some point I thought I heard a bee so I stopped walking around with my camera and stood still. It was a hummingbird who stopped for about 10 seconds in front of me as if to say hello and then he zoomed off. I'm guessing it was a Ruby throated hummingbird because  the colour I noticed was red. Even though I was holding camera with telephoto lens, I was so stunned to see him looking at me, I didn't even react.

Day 2: Oromocto and the 4rth covered bridge of Sunbury County New Brunswick

We left around lunch time to visit the 4rth and last of the Sunbury County Covered bridges. We also wandered by Blissville on our way to Fred for some shopping. At least it was mostly sunny and 24. Probably one of the nicer days of the entire vacation weather wise.

Day 1: We drive to Oromocto

Today I drove from Montreal to Oromocto. I was on the road at 7:15AM and was in Oromocto by 6pm New Brunswick time. We made 2 stops at Haltes routieres, and one at a gas Station. We also stopped in the French Fry Capital of the world, the Town of Florenceville.

 Although you get offered a large choice of types of potatoes for your fries, they were not double cooked and just didn't taste that great. For $3.50 for a fry, it really was nothing special.  In fact I'd give it a 2 out of 5.

Today we went sight seeing between Oromocto and Fredericton. We saw two old churches neither one still in use as well as the Burton Bridge. There were some nice forget-me-nots and irises. These flowers bloomed later here then in Montreal. I get the feeling it's a bit cooler.

Yesterday between the rain, the torrential rain, the pellets and the hail we managed to get some shopping done. Got some Taste of the Wild cat food. I haven't been able to buy some in Montreal for a while for all sorts of reasons. It was also cheaper then in Montreal.

 Also ended up buying clothes at Bootleggers and Fairweather, both stores that used to have outlets in Montreal but don't anymore. I also ended up buying a dress at Bluenotes, also a store not available in Montreal.
