Things people do to their homes.

When I moved into my house back in 2000,  I noticed that 80% of the telephone plugs in the house were left hanging with just wires. My impression was that the guy must have had a security system that he removed, and he did not bother putting back phone jacks. I took the time and installed phone jacks. I did not check the wiring.

Now 15 years later, my phone doesn't work and the Bell guy claims the short is in my house. Despite the fact that we have not touched anything in my house. No flooding either. Not sure how a short happens when nothing touches.

However he was nice enough to ensure that the main phone line in the kitchen, the plug works as well as the one phone line in the basement where all the internet is connected.

So I have service coming into the house and reaching 2 plugs.  To debug the rest of the house would have been expensive and really I don't have the money to spend on that.

Not impressed with the guy who wired my house all weird. And when I say that I mean it.  When I moved in there was a 2 plug Power plug sitting under a water faucet.  It scared the fuck out of me. You never have water and electricity overlap.. like WTF?????

So my internet should be less flaky now and I have exactly ONE phone line that works. Not even sure if I will put answering machine back on.

Unimpressed by Bell.

For the past 3 months now  Bell's  collection department has been calling my house to collect on a bill that is not under my name.  Someone used my address for their cell phone, and now Bell thinks it's OK to spam me 4-8 times a day with an automated call.

Anyone who knows me knows that hearing the phone ring sets off my anxiety most of the time, thanks to someone who called me repeatedly in a drunken stupor and left asinine messages on my machine and other times just lambasted me for no particular reason.

So I've been home and this non stop calling was driving me bonkers, so for  my sanity and peace of mind I had the BELL  home phone off the hook for the better part of the last 3 weeks.

I put the phone back online because my eldest wanted to talk to me yesterday and today  I just happened to pick up the phone really pissed off and Bell asked for someone who wasn't me. I  told them there was no one by that name on my phone number.  They asked if I knew the person I told them NO. I told them to stop abusing my fucking phone number. I hope they don't start up again in a week or two.

Bell can throttle my rear end.

I'm about this close to telling bell where to take their lan line and shove it. I'm so sick of having my internet connection throttled. If they think because they throttle my line that I will cancel my contract with ACANAC and go back to them I've got news for them. I'll cancel my Bell phone line LONG BEFORE my ISP.

It just sucks that I don't have many if any options for lan line where I live other then Bell that can give me DSL. Voice over IP isn't an option. It's something else Bell throttles. I really hope that the CRTC eventually realizes that Bell's bad practices suck for everyone.

I mean Bell's throttling is so bad that sometimes when I change IP's I can't connect again. I'd get better internet surfing with DIAL-UP. It's stupid seriously. It's just making me more anti-Bell. The phone line is the last thing of Bell's I have and soon it will be gone. I know for sure when I move I'm never going to Bell EVER AGAIN. Canada's allowing Bell to be the only phone carrier for years has made them very cocky. Anyone who's a monopoly can be an ass and this is never good for the common man.
