Day 12: We return to Halifax for the day

Tarped Tent

We tore down the camp, at least it was sunny and drove back to Halifax. Though when we got around Bedford, the highway 102 was closed, and we were being steered going towards Darmouth, we had to navigate quickly to not take the Bridge.  I found out afterwards that there had been not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 accidents in a short stretch of road on the 102.  At least it's easy to find accidents if you look at HRM Twitter!

We had decided to stay at the 4 points, which is funny in itself because we had noticed 2 days earlier when we were in Halifax for the night that someone had put a blow up doll in the Window of one of the rooms.

We wandered around Halifax and checked out the shops around Spring Garden from Queen street and higher. 

We went to Salty's for dinner.  Both Terry and I had lobster and Sam had Salmon, since apparently Brian does not like Salmon..  Mado was such a ham, and such a good baby at the restaurant, even though some couples around us gave us dirty looks.

We tried the Jacuzzi at the hotel but it seems to be stop on Japanese tours and the hotel was filled with Japanese tourists. So the pool and Jacuzzi had tons of people, and children, even near closing around 10pm

Lunenburg is so pretty I took tons and tons of photos.  Also it was pissing rain so many of them the lens is full of water. I kept drying it but it kept raining.

Day 11: Green Bay Beach, BridgeWater, Lunenburg & Crescent Beach

I should have mentioned yesterday that there was tons of blueberry bushes around Risser's beach campground as well as raspberries and blackberries. It was blueberry season and I managed to get enough for 2 breakfasts!

It rained a bit overnight but I had tarped the top of the tent, since it mostly only seems to leak from the top vents in heavy rain, and there was heavy rain planned. I decided to tarp after noticing most of the campers on the other side, further from the ocean had all tarped, so I checked the weather report.

It proceeded to rain all day. We went for a drive until around 4pm. We drove up to Petite Riviere General store, and Tam wasn't there due to the rain, we then took the road to go to the water, there is Green Bay beach near Petite Riviere, where we spent an hour walking the beach in rain and finding beach glass.

Then we  stopped in Bridgewater so I could check out the Atlantic fabrics.

We drove to Lunenburg. and had dinner at the Old Fish factory. He had the lobster roll and I can't remember what I had at this point. But the food was delicious.  There's a Fawlty Towers in Lunenburg and the houses are really neat.

On the way back we stopped to check out the shipwreck in Bridgewater. Neither one of us was brave enough to want to take the LaHave cable Ferry that would have saved us 20 minutes between Risser's beach and Lunenburg.

We also stopped to check out Crescent beach but it was still raining.

Day 10 : Rissers Beach Provinvial Park, Petite Riviere

We woke up and left our room by 10:30 and went to the Atlantic Fabrics in Bedford. Apparently it's a new location that opened since the birth of Mado.  Lady who served me was also born in Montreal and had spent about 28 years living in Montreal, after which she met someone, lived in Edmonton until her mom died and when they decided where they would live, they decided Nova Scotia. She loves it and has had no regrets. 



Bought 4 fabrics that were of matching colours of orange and red. Those are some of my favourite colours and I can see making the dress with 4 different fabrics with this fabric.

We drove to Rissers Beach Provincial Park. It has a lovely beach and is an amazing campground Ocean front. However I've never seen bathrooms so bad in all the parks I've visited. The outhouses were the worst I've ever used. They needed cleaning so bad it wasn't even funny. The bathroom in the other campsite that has running water and showers had the worst showers I've seen at a campsite.

There's a nice beach and boardwalk that goes around a marsh. We walked it in the dark under the full moon and it was awesome.   We stopped in Petite Riviere and had food at Tam's roadside Grill. He had the bacon-cheese burger and I had the Quinoa burger. She has her stand near in the lot next to the General Store in Petite River.
